Egypt Tour

Only 3 days until I head to Egypt and what a time to go… with Ramadan now officially over, I’m hoping the locals will be up for a party!

There’s 8 of us travelling over on the 23rd and won’t return until the 5th Oct. My entourage! consists or Gary (drums), Paddy (bass), Ben (keys), Peter (guitar), Finola (booker/organiser), Andrew (manager) & Eoin (filming/photography). Eoin is a good friend who works in media and who has kindly offered his services to come over to document the tour. Finola is originally from Navan but lived in Cairo for a few years and has put the whole tour together.

I’ll be blogging from the tour any chance I can get and we will be posting photos and videos whenever possible, but I thought I’d give you a little insight as to what the tour entails.

Apart from visiting Cairo we will be travelling to Sharm El Sheikh & Dahab, we will also be hitting the desert for a night, travelling up the Nile and checking out the Pyramids. I know this sounds more like a holiday then a tour, but we will be performing in all these places. (OK, not in the Pyramids but we will be filming a session on the roof or the nearest house with the family of musicians who live there). We will also perform for the Bedouin tribe in the desert near Dahab. On top of all that we have a music workshop organised with Egyptian band Ressala.

When I get home I’ll be straight into an Irish tour so keep posted for dates.

Our Egyptian tour would not be happening with out the kind support for Culture Ireland and the Meath Arts Council.
